We’re seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Laboratory Assistant to join our dedicated Histology team in Townsville. In this hands-on role, you will support essential laboratory operations to ensure timely and accurate results.

Your key duties will include:

Specimen registration and batching

Accessioning, embedding, and microtomy

Performing frozen sections

Conducting special stain procedures

Routine equipment maintenance and housekeeping tasks

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have an enthusiastic attitude, a strong attention to detail, and proven ability to perform effectively in a busy laboratory environment.

You will also have:

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Flexibility to work rostered shifts between 6:00am and 8:00pm, Monday to Friday, and weekends as required

A current driver’s licence

Willingness to assist across departments when needed

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

While not required, the following experience will be highly regarded:

Previous exposure to histology processes such as accessioning, microtomy, embedding, and staining

Familiarity with the Apollo Laboratory Information System (LIS)
