As the Executive Assistant at the Mabo Centre, you'll play an important role in supporting a mission that translates Native Title agreements into vehicles for socio-economic empowerment and enduring benefits for First Nations landowners, as well as capacity-building in Indigenous leaders. You will gain meaningful experience in a supportive workplace that values lived experience and encourages staff to share their voices.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Executive support: Manage complex schedules, draft high-quality correspondence, field inquiries, and ensure efficient document management
- Stakeholder engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Board Members and University Guests
- Event support: Assist with conferences, seminars, and events, including preparation of materials and logistics
- Administrative duties: Assist with travel arrangements, purchasing and financial reconciliation, meeting servicing (catering and set-up)
- Operational support: Interpret policies, provide advice on University systems and processes, and collaborate with senior staff on Centre initiatives
- Health and safety: Assist with OHS processes, conduct local inductions, and complete First Aid training

You are a highly organised and professional individual with exceptional communication skills, capable of managing competing deadlines and handling sensitive matters with discretion and confidentiality.
You may also:
- Possess excellent time management and prioritisation abilities
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships
- Have experience in providing executive-level support and managing complex schedules
- Exhibit a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Be proficient in using various software applications and office productivity tools
- Possess a collaborative mindset and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team

The Mabo Centre is a joint initiative between the University of Melbourne and the National Native Title Council. The Mabo Centre supports Traditional Owner groups and First Nations organisations to enable better economic outcomes through leveraging land and sea rights.
