Junior IT Specialist - AI
Location: Milton, HFA HQ + work-from-home split (Tuesday and Wednesday in-office)
Type: Full-time
Salary: $50,000–$70,000 AUD
We’re exploring how AI can transform the way people work, not in theory but in practice. Be part of a hands-on team that’s building real tools, solving real problems, and learning fast along the way.
Role Overview
If you’re ready to take the lead on building AI solutions that make real work simpler, smarter, and more human, this is your chance to make an immediate impact from day one.
We’re looking for an enthusiastic Junior AI Specialist to join HomeFront’s tech team. You’ll help build and refine AI-powered tools that support our people and improve how the organisation runs every day.
This role focuses purely on AI. You won’t be pulled into general IT support, so you can stay focused on automation, intelligent solutions, and creative problem-solving.
You’ll be part of a small, driven team working closely with our CIO and AI leads. While our Systems Administrator looks after the broader IT environment, you’ll be focused on bringing AI ideas to life, from concept through to deployment.
What You’ll Bring
You’re early in your tech career, maybe a recent graduate, close to finishing your degree, or self-taught and ready for your next challenge. You’re curious, hands-on, and genuinely excited about what AI can do in real-world settings.
You’ll do well in this role if you:
- Have practical skills in IT, AI, computer science, or a related area. A relevant degree is a nice to have, but not essential if you can show curiosity, initiative, and the ability to learn quickly.
- Have a real passion for AI and emerging technologies, and want to grow with a team that’s doing meaningful, forward-thinking work.
- Have tried your hand at developing or experimenting with AI tools, agents, or automations through study, projects, or personal exploration.
- Communicate well, enjoy collaborating, and like testing out new ideas to see what works best.
Nice to Have
(Not required, but handy if you’ve worked with)
- AI agent development or deployment
- Automation scripting
- Power Automate, Microsoft Dynamics, or Microsoft Fabric
- Docker, Containers, Node.js, Powershell, or Visual Studio Code
- Local environment setups or API integrations
What You’ll Work On
Core responsibilities
- Collaborate with the CIO and tech team to identify and prioritise AI initiatives
- Build AI agents and automation workflows that support daily operations
- Maintain and refine existing AI tools and systems
- Research and test emerging AI trends and technologies to guide future development
Team Structure
Direct Report: Business Director
Works closely with: CEO, CIO, and CXO (on-site Tuesday and Wednesday)
