Job description:
Join a Business Where Finance Has a Seat at the Table
An exciting opportunity has opened due to an internal promotion—proof of the growth and development we champion at Stockland. This is a dynamic, fast-paced role where no two days are the same. You'll have the chance to broaden your horizons, grow your commercial acumen alongside your technical expertise, and work in a business where Finance is deeply embedded in strategic decision-making.
The Opportunity
We're looking for a seasoned finance professional to lead Stockland's external reporting and accounting policy function. This is a high-impact role responsible for delivering external financial reporting obligations to the ASX, ASIC, and joint venture partners, while shaping and applying accounting policies across the Group. You'll lead a team of three onshore and 4 offshore team members and work closely with senior leaders and external advisors to ensure clarity, compliance, and excellence in financial reporting.
What You'll Do
Lead External Reporting
Take ownership of Stockland's external financial reporting obligations, including ASX and ASIC submissions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness. Manage the half-year and year-end reporting cycles, keeping stakeholders informed and engaged throughout.
Manage Audit Engagements
Lead the relationship with PwC, coordinating audits and reviews to deliver outcomes that are clear of material unadjusted differences. Navigate complex audit processes while maintaining Stockland's high standards.
Shape Accounting Policy
Play a central role in developing and applying accounting policies across the Group, providing expert advice on new standards, transactions, and business activities. Ensure consistency and clarity in financial decision-making.
Support Strategic Decision-Making
Prepare well-articulated Audit Committee papers and review Investment Committee submissions, translating technical accounting matters into strategic insights that support senior leaders and directors.
Drive Continuous Improvement
Champion innovation and efficiency in reporting processes, identifying opportunities to streamline and enhance how Finance operates across the business.
Collaborate Across the Business
Partner with key internal stakeholders—including Strategic Capital, Treasury, Tax, and Group Investments—to ensure alignment and shared understanding of financial impacts.
Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team
Provide leadership and mentorship to four direct reports, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and growth aligned with Stockland's values.
About You
You're passionate about financial integrity and want to make a meaningful impact in a purpose-driven organisation. You value working with talented people and contributing to a culture of accountability, respect, and excellence.
Experience & Skills That Count
- CA/CPA qualified with extensive experience in financial accounting and ASX reporting
- Proven leadership experience with a track record of building strong teams
- Deep understanding of Australian Accounting Standards, group accounting, and consolidation
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage senior stakeholders
