Chef / Cook – Contract Role in a Beautiful Rainforest Setting

Secrets on the Lake is a luxury treehouse retreat nestled in the rainforest above Lake Baroon, just minutes from Montville. We are currently seeking an experienced Chef or Cook to join our friendly kitchen team on a contract basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity to bring your skills to a unique and tranquil setting, where quality, creativity, and a passion for fresh, local ingredients are at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role

Working closely with our Head Chef, you will assist in the day-to-day operations of our busy, well-regarded restaurant – open for breakfast and lunch, Tuesday to Sunday (8am–4pm). You’ll help deliver a high-quality culinary experience to both guests and visitors.

Your Key Responsibilities

Assist with food preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals

Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment

Ensure safe handling, storage, and hygiene of all ingredients

Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front-of-house teams

Comply with food safety and WHS regulations at all times

What We’re Looking For

Certificate in Commercial Cookery or similar (preferred but not essential)

1–2 years’ experience in a similar role (highly regarded)

Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality

Strong time management and multitasking abilities

A team player with a positive, can-do attitude

Passionate about fresh, seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients
