The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Project Manager, NGV Contemporary to oversee the NGV Contemporary project team and provide exceptional project management, coordination and administration to the NGV Contemporary Project and the Department of Facilities and Operations.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
In collaboration with the Associate Director, Facilities and Operations, you will support the broader Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation (MAPT) project, led by project partners Development Victoria and MAPCo, including project governance, planning and reporting. Other key responsibilities include:
- Leading and motivating the NGV Contemporary project team, instilling a culture of continuous improvement.
- Supporting the design and construction of the new NGV Contemporary building, associated upgrades to existing facilities and business continuity planning through proactive and effective project planning, scheduling, budgeting, monitoring and reporting.
- Working collaboratively and effectively with staff and teams across NGV, as well as MAPT and NGV Contemporary project partners. Building key relationships and maintaining effective networks to deliver positive outcomes for the project.
- Leading the delivery of NGV capital improvement projects, including project planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting. Working collaboratively with other teams, and effectively managing consultants and contractors, to deliver projects within budget and to agreed timeframes.
- Developing high quality reports, papers, proposals and presentations as required.
To be successful, you will have relevant tertiary qualification (preferably in facilities, construction, architecture, engineering or project management) and experience in delivering capital works or construction projects.
You maximise effectiveness by developing and managing a high performing team, ensuring staff are actively deployed through effective workforce planning practices, build team commitment by demonstrating personal conviction, professionalism and motivate others to deliver against goals. You produce project plans where objectives are clearly defined and steps for achieving them are clearly specified. You regularly communicate with, and support project team members and ensure project objectives are met by anticipating and managing potential and emerging issues.
You have working knowledge of Building Code, Health and Safety regulations and Heritage protection management. Project management accreditation and experience in public sector construction projects is highly regarded.
Proficiency in 3D design and construction modelling, including CAD and BIM, is well regarded.
