Our client is an infrastructure construction company based in Sydney Olympic Park with a backing of its parent company who deliver large-scale infrastructure projects across metro & railways, aviation, roads & highways, mining, oil & gas, buildings, water, transmission, and renewable energy sectors.

About the role
Experience
10+ years of experience as an estimator, predominately in civil infrastructure, roads and bridges
Experience highly preferred in TfNSW/DTMR/MainRoadsWA/VicRoads projects
Experience in bid reviews, adjudications and presentations to senior management/clients
Bid Evaluation and Ownership
Understand the bid's criticality to the business and prepare bids in line with the bid management milestones.
Bid ownership from inception to a successful outcome with an ability to assess and evaluate the internal and external requirements to accurately price with commercial acumen, to secure business success.
Analyse bid plans, specifications, and other documents to understand the scope and requirements.
Conduct on-site visits to assess existing conditions and gather relevant information.
Collaborate with the construction manager, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gain insights into bid goals and objectives.
Risk Assessment
Identify and evaluate potential risks, uncertainties and opportunities associated with projects in coordination with the bid team.
Develop Risks & Opportunities, Register with contingency plans, risk mitigation strategies, and associated costs, including the utilisation of technology as required, to incorporate corporate risk factors into the bid estimate.
Cost Estimation
Ensure the bid submissions comply with the tender specifications and the client requirements.
Utilise industry-standard estimating techniques to determine the cost of materials, labour, equipment, and other resources required for project execution.
Prepare detailed Rate Analysis with accurate first-principle cost estimates, considering market conditions, subcontractor quotes, and bid-specific constraints.
Provide cost breakdowns and documentation to support the estimation process.
Recommend alternative and value engineering initiatives for the bid cost effectiveness.
Bid Preparation and Outcome
Prepare and submit competitive bids that include understanding of the project requirements, researching and analysing the scope, developing a bid proposal including supporting documentation, timely submission, highlighting relevant experience, and focusing on value in vertical-specific engineering projects.
Incorporate past project performance into the bids to establish the corporate competencies.
Competencies
Understanding of organisational strategic, immediate, and long-term targets.
Assist the management in ensuring the role of attracting repeated business and new customers.
An ability to understand and align with projects’ cost and manage time effectively to achieve targets.
To develop and maintain positive relationships with the delivery partners, including Suppliers, Subcontractors, Consultants, etc., to ensure negotiation of pricing suits the tenders’ requirements.
Strong business acumen in project planning and management with strong verbal, written, and organisational skills.
Leverage on technology tools for estimating, such as MS Office, cost estimating software, preferably Candy, Expert, etc.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree/diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or membership of professional bodies
