About the Position
As the Business and Operations Manager, you will be a senior member of the Centre's leadership team and play a pivotal role in driving its success. Working closely with the Director, Executive Management Committee, and Partner Organisations, you will provide high-level leadership across finance, operations, governance, partnerships, and training. This is a rare opportunity to shape a nationally significant research and training centre, working with a diverse mix of academic, industry, and Indigenous partners.

The Business and Operations Manager is accountable for:

  • Leading budgets, financial reporting, contracts, procurement, and ensuring compliance with ARC and university requirements.
  • Overseeing Centre operations, governance processes, reporting, events, and strategic engagement to deliver on KPIs.
  • Building collaborative relationships with industry and Indigenous stakeholders, coordinating researcher training and placements, and managing communications to raise the Centre's profile.

About You
You are an accomplished leader with a proven record of managing complex programs or research centres. You thrive in collaborative, multi-partner environments and bring a professional, solutions-focused approach. With strong business acumen, relationship-building ability, and a leadership style that fosters trust and high performance, you are confident navigating complexity and driving results.

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Demonstrated success in managing complex, multi-partner programs or centres with delivery against milestones.
  • Advanced financial management expertise, including budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and reporting.
  • Experience in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and operational frameworks.
  • Leadership and people management capability, including resourcing, contracts, and performance oversight.
  • Experience in archaeology, cultural heritage management, the resources sector, or working with Traditional Owners is desirable.

About the Australian Research Council (ARC) Industrial Transformation Training Centre (ITTC)
The Australian Research Council (ARC) Industrial Transformation Training Centre (ITTC) for Advancing Archaeology in the Resources Sector is a $17m, 5-year investment that will transform cultural heritage management in the resources industry.

Led by Flinders University, the Centre brings together three universities, Indigenous organisations, mining companies, and cultural heritage consultants to train a new generation of archaeologists and mining leaders skilled in balancing mining impacts, cultural heritage, and social responsibility.
