About the role
Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) is seeking an experienced and purpose-driven Recruitment and Retention Manager to lead our end-to-end recruitment and retention strategy. This pivotal leadership role blends strategic thinking, stakeholder influence, team development, and continuous improvement to ensure VLA attracts and retains high-quality talent aligned with our values and mission.
As a key member of the People and Culture leadership team, you will play a critical role in shaping our workforce strategy, building our employer brand, and leading innovation across all aspects of recruitment and retention. You'll lead a team of around nine professionals, manage a $3.5 million budget, and partner with stakeholders across the organisation.
This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.
About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Demonstrated experience leading recruitment and retention functions in a complex, multi-disciplinary organisation.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Strong strategic thinking, with the ability to develop strong talent pipelines to ensure alignment to organisational goals.
- Experience in managing significant budgets and delivering measurable outcomes.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and change management skills.
- A strong understanding of diversity and inclusion principles in recruitment, including an understanding of the issues and barriers to employment experienced by Australian First Nations people.
