Role:
The Design Manager has the following specific areas of shared responsibility:

• Initial and ongoing procurement strategies
• Review designs, recommend improvements and provide value adding solutions
• Contract negotiations
• On-going design enhancement and improvement
• Manage design consultancies and achieve the best outcomes for the project

Person:

Technical knowledge:

• Ability to read technical drawings and foresee design and construction complications and cost savings
• Ability to identify cost savings through improving buildability and procurement
• Ability to translate technical requirement into policies and procedures
• Experience working for a mid or upper tier construction company
• Sound Structural design knowledge

Company:
Our client works across a number of construction sectors however they have a large book of projects within education and the government space. In 2025 they have secured a number of projects $2m $30m of a D&C nature and as a result of this and more work to come they are adding another Design Coordinator to the team.

As the Design Manager you will work across 1 or 2 projects at any one time and have the chance to grow and progress within the company. You will report into the Director with dotted lines through Construction Managers and you will work with a team that collaborates and shares their knowledge and experience with each other.
