What is the role?
Infrastructure Projects within Property Command is responsible for the delivery of the organisations key capital works program including but not limited to, training facilities, security upgrades office refurbishment, new builds and specialist facilities projects nationally. These roles will assist with initiating, planning and implementing projects within time, budget, scope and resourcing constraints and while managing stakeholder expectations. This delivery is achieved through establishing and leading projects under AFP governance framework and delivering project outcomes through direct management of external contracts, including management, design and construction contracts and other contractors.
Successful candidates will have the ability to assist and support the Infrastructure Project Managers to deliver projects and their respective stakeholders across a range of levels and disciplines. These are critical support roles in a fast-paced environment and therefore requires a proactive can-do attitude, high levels of organisational skills, self-drive and initiative. You will be able to identify risks and work effectively under pressure in a changing environment to deliver outcomes.
As a member of Infrastructure Projects, you will be expected to foster and develop internal and external stakeholder relationships by working cohesively within a project specific environment, including anticipating the needs of others to ensure the delivery of project outcomes.
As a Team Member in the AFP, you will be required to contribute to the achievement of outcomes in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct and the AFP Governance Instruments. It is expected that the successful applicant will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.
What will you do?
- Assist with the support, development, delivery and implementation of capital works projects.
- With guidance, assist in project procurement and, contract management activities related to the project within required allocated timeframes.
- Participate in the negotiation of contracts and agreements, relating to the capital works projects.
With guidance, manage specific monthly budget, financial, reporting processes.
- Provide secretariat duties various internal/external committee and stakeholder meetings.
- Assist with adhoc project and property related issues and tasks as they arise.
- Contribute to the advice and reporting to the Coordinator and AFP Senior Management on capital works projects.
- Pursue, develop and nurture internal and external professional networks appropriate to the Band level to support the efficient and effective management of the AFP’s capital works projects.
- Be willing to step outside of your core responsibilities to learn and develop new functions and willingness to help team members with their tasks required.

Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- Minimum of one (1) years’ experience in a like or related field.
- Demonstrated experience in project support, finance, administration including for example budgets, financial management, reporting, procurement and contract management.
- Demonstrated understanding and working experience of Government procurement including policies and legislation.
Desirable Requirements
- Certificate IV in Project Management/Certificate IV in Procurement or demonstrated experience (minimum 1 year) in managing projects
- Certificate IV in Government
- Experience in property, projects, procurement or administration
