A rare and exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Project Engineer to work on an iconic ACT construction project!
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Project Engineer to join our team in delivering a high-end residential development comprising luxury townhouses and five bespoke houses in Canberra. The role will support the Project Manager and site team in ensuring that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating subcontractors, managing design and documentation, monitoring progress, and driving compliance with safety, quality, and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and delivering all stages of the residential construction project.
Manage and review project documentation, including drawings, specifications, RFIs, and shop drawings.
Coordinate with architects, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure timely information flow.
Monitor construction progress against the program and report on key milestones, risks, and delays.
Assist in procurement processes, including tender reviews, Scope of works, contract administration, and supplier management.
Ensure all site activities comply with WHS regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
Conduct quality inspections and maintain QA records to meet luxury residential standards.
Track and manage project variations, costs, and budgets in conjunction with the Project Manager.
Contribute to defect management, commissioning, and project handover processes.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and foster strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Process and review monthly subcontractor claims for project manager approval
Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
2–4 years’ experience as a Project Engineer or similar role in residential or commercial construction.
Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and standards in Australia.
Proven ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
Effective communication skills to liaise with subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
Proficiency in construction software and Microsoft office (e.g., Procore, Aconex, MS Project, Excel or equivalent).
Understanding in jobpac preferred.
Sound understanding of WHS requirements and quality management systems.
