Yarrawonga Health is currently seeking a committed and capable Duty Medical Officer to join our clinical team, based in beautiful Yarrawonga, Victoria, along the Murray River. This role is ideal for a medical practitioner seeking to provide high-quality, patient-centred care in a regional setting across our Urgent Care Centre, Acute Ward, and Residential Aged Care Facilities, including any secondment sites.
As the Duty Medical Officer, you will be leading a dedicated team of multidisciplinary team that’s passionate about delivering exceptional healthcare to our local community. You will be a solo practitioner with robust referral pathways to larger regional health services.
About the Role
In this dynamic position, you will:
- Assess and manage patients across Acute and Urgent Care emergency
- Provide urgent medical assistance to residential aged care as required
- Apply evidence-based clinical practice in planning and delivering treatment
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement, teaching, and safe patient care
- Provide accurate and timely documentation, handovers, and discharge summaries
- Undertake on-call requirements (for predominantly Triage Categories 1-3, Categories 4-5 are nursing led and assisted by VVED)
What You’ll Need
Essential:
- Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent), recognised by the Australian Medical Council
- General Registration with APHRA
- Successful completion of Australian Medical Council (AMC) Part 1 and Part 2 Exams
- Clinical experience of 5 years or more in general acute and/or emergency medicine.
Desirable:
- Fellowship with ACEM, RACGP or RACP
- Experience working in a rural or regional healthcare setting
- Previous clinical experience in the Australian healthcare system

Compliance Requirements
Before commencement, candidates will need to provide or be willing to obtain:
- National Police Check
- NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Working with Children's Check
- Evidence of required vaccinations (in line with current public health directives)
