We are partnering with a respected and progressive independent school to find a Risk and Compliance Officer for a 12-month maternity leave contract. This is a part-time opportunity (3 days per week or reduced hours across 5 days), ideal for a skilled compliance professional looking to make a meaningful impact in the education sector.

You will be part of a values-driven and collaborative environment that prioritises student safety, staff wellbeing, and operational excellence.

Your Opportunity

As the Risk and Compliance Officer, you will report directly to the Commercial Director and support driving best-practice governance, risk, and compliance frameworks. You will help cultivate a strong culture of accountability and safety across the school.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the Senior Leadership Team and a wide range of stakeholders across the school community.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a central point of contact for all compliance, risk, and policy-related queries.
• Present updates at Board meetings and report regularly to the Commercial Director.
• Maintain and monitor risk registers, working closely with risk owners to meet reporting deadlines.
• Allocate and oversee mandatory staff compliance training.
• Support the school’s Workplace Health & Safety Committee and assist in Return-to-Work processes.
• Ensure all school policies remain compliant with current legislation and lead updates and communications as required.

About You

You are a relationship-focused compliance professional with the ability to influence and engage across all levels of an organisation. You will bring a calm, organised approach and a proactive attitude to ensuring compliance and risk are effectively managed.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience in risk, compliance, or workplace health & safety (education sector experience is advantageous).
• Sound knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements relevant to schools or community organisations.
• Familiarity with risk management tools (e.g. Risk Wizard or similar platforms).
• Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
• A valid Blue Card (or ability to obtain one).
