Your Role

An exciting role exists to join the team at Catholic Education Office in the position of Compliance and Risk Officer, to commence on 12 January 2026. This is a full time continuing position for 40 hours per week.

The successful applicant will support the development and maintenance of governance and risk frameworks, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory changes. This role involves reviewing policies, monitoring risk registers and collaborating across teams to address emerging issues. Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to risk management are essential.

The role presents a wonderful opportunity to contribute to meaningful improvements and make a real impact on the safety, quality and wellbeing of school communities. The role has a significant focus on practical problem-solving and supporting schools with clear, effective guidance on compliance and risk matters. This role can be located in Rockhampton or at other locations within the Diocese (as negotiated with the successful applicant).

Typical duties include, but are not limited:

• Supporting and maintaining compliance and risk frameworks for Catholic Education - Diocese of Rockhampton (CEDR) in collaboration with internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment with industry standards and governance principles.
• Monitoring and reviewing governance structures, risk registers and policy documents to ensure they remain current and effective.
• Tracking and analysing regulatory changes across the education sector and government levels, providing insights and recommendations to inform company responses and policy development.
• Assisting in risk management activities including contract reviews, school support and development of fit-for-purpose policies that promote safety, compliance and educational quality.
• Collaborating across teams to ensure governance and risk frameworks reflect emerging issues, particularly those impacting student wellbeing and educational outcomes.

• A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable, with appropriate experience or equivalent knowledge, qualifications and experience relevant to this role.
