About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated Leading Hand – Asphalt Laying to join our team in Perth. In this role, you’ll lead a crew of up to 10 members, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality paving operations. You’ll work closely with the Foreman/Supervisor to plan and deliver daily projects while maintaining strong communication with both internal teams and clients.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and coordinate asphalt laying crews on-site.
• Support the Foreman in planning and executing daily operations.
• Conduct toolbox talks, pre-starts, and ensure compliance with SWMS and site safety requirements.
• Monitor job quality, mix, and spread rate throughout the day.
• Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Maintain accurate daily paperwork, site memos, and reports.
• Manage site setup, cleanup, and ensure all plant and equipment are maintained.
• Oversee subcontractors and traffic control as required.
• Identify cost efficiencies and ensure jobs are completed safely and on time.

What You’ll Bring

• Cert III in Bitumen & Surfacing (or equivalent).
• VOC for asphalt paving equipment.
• HR License (preferred).
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in asphalt laying or surfacing operations.
• Proven experience working with paving equipment, sensors, and paveset systems.
• Solid understanding of TMR, RMS & Council specifications.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
