The Role

Macquarie University Health is currently recruiting for a Medical Receptionist and Administration Assistant to provide high quality support services for specialists within our Neurology clinic. In this role, you will provide excellent customer service, and provide administrative assistance to support the day-to-day operations of the clinic including making appointments, processing patient billing, answering phones and answering enquiries from patients and medical practitioners. Experience in scheduling appointments, calendar management, managing patient records and data entry is preferred but not essential. The role requires a firm commitment to excellent customer service, patient-centred care and attention to detail.

We are seeking an Administration Assistant who is available to work part time hours (Monday to Friday) across 4 days a week schedule.

Key Accountabilities include (not limited to):

  • Providing customer service, making appointments and answering enquiries from patients and medical practitioners
  • Answering phones, managing emails and coordination & distribution of patient reports
  • Ensuring accurate data entry of patient information into the patient management system
  • Assist in managing diaries
  • Preserving confidentiality and privacy of all patient information and records
  • Processing patient billing and receipts including relevant Medicare, Private Health Fund and Third Party billings
  • Providing administrative assistance to support the day-to-day operations of the clinic.
  • Communicating, liaising and coordinating duties with other administrative and reception staff.
  • Reconciling end-of-day cash/EFTPOS and undertaking associated banking tasks
  • Payment Plan management and debt recovery

Essential

  • Demonstrated reception/administration or customer service experience.
  • Demonstrated sound verbal and written communication skills and ability to build rapport and empathise with patients and families.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a high level of customer service delivered in a professional manner at all times.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Excellent organisational, time management and attention to detail skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or individually as required.

Desirable

  • Experience in a general or specialist medical practice or hospital setting
  • Competency in health-related software packages
