Andrew Peace Wines is a dynamic, family owned company producing wine for our successful export and domestic labels and is one of Australia's premier contract winemakers. Fruit is sourced from many regions within South Eastern Australia, including our own vineyards in Victoria and South Australia. Processing is done at our modern 60,000 tonne winery, situated at Piangil, in Victoria.
We’re seeking a Senior Winemaker & Commercial Manager to join our leadership team in Piangil VIC, where you’ll play a pivotal role in driving both the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of our winery.
In this dual leadership role, you’ll work in close partnership with the Chief Winemaker, balancing production expertise with business development, sales insight, and team leadership — ensuring our wines consistently hit the mark in quality, innovation, and market appeal.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Winemaking Leadership & Production Oversight
Co-lead all winemaking operations, vintage planning, and product development.
Oversee grape intake to bulk dispatch, ensuring quality, efficiency, and consistency.
Champion innovation in cellar operations, lab management, and R&D.
Team & Culture Management
Mentor and manage winemaking, cellar, and lab teams.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Oversee rostering, performance, and workforce planning.
Budgeting & Operations
Co-develop and manage budgets; drive operational efficiency.
Maintain cost control and lead resource planning, procurement, and capital projects.
Commercial & Sales Engagement
Act as the production liaison with sales, marketing, and distribution teams.
Support commercial planning with timely production insights.
Represent the winery at tastings, trade shows, and industry events.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Support all QA systems, including HACCP, LIP, SWA, and kosher production.
Ensure full compliance with export documentation, food safety, and sustainability standards.
Stakeholder Relationship Management
Build strong relationships with growers, suppliers, customers, and regulators.
Support business development initiatives and customer-facing activities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
A degree in Oenology or equivalent winemaking qualification
3–5 vintages of hands-on, leading winemaking experience
Proven leadership experience in wine production
Commercial acumen or experience in wine sales/marketing (preferred)
Strong communication, planning, and problem-solving abilities
Familiarity with Vintrace and Deputy (desirable)
