A re-alignment within the Infrastructure & Environment portfolio, to better support Council and the community has resulted in this exciting new role.
Reporting to the Manager City Assets & Capital Delivery and assisted by 4 direct reports, key responsibilities will include:
Providing strategic leadership and operational oversight in the planning, management, and delivery of Council’s capital works programs.
Ensuring the successful delivery of capital projects, across all Council asset classes from concept development and design through to construction and handover, delivered on time, within scope and budget, and aligned with community expectations, financial sustainability and Council’s strategic objectives.
Leading, coaching and developing a team of project and contract management professionals, fostering a high performance culture built on safety, accountability, and collaboration.
Aligning capital investment with asset management plans, sustainability goals, and the Long-Term Financial Plan.
Developing, implementing continuous improvement of project management frameworks, reporting tools, and governance systems that support transparency, risk management, and decision making.
Contributing and working closely with other Unit Managers and leaders across the organisation to ensure capital works meet current and future community needs.
Qualification/s in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant work experience will be essential.
Experience in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of capital works and infrastructure projects and budgets, procurement processes and contracts, and a proven track record managing complex, multi-disciplinary project teams in a local government or similar environment will be critical to success.
