A re-alignment within the Infrastructure & Environment portfolio, to better support Council and the community has resulted in this exciting new role.
Reporting to the Manager City Assets & Capital Delivery and assisted by 2 direct reports, key responsibilities will include:
Providing strategic and operational leadership across Council’s environmental management, sustainability, and waste services.
Designing and delivering key initiatives that reduce Council’s environmental impact, promote biodiversity, support water conservation and reuse, and address climate change adaptation.
Leading key services including the reuse centre, biodiversity initiatives, and oversight of waste services, including contract management and externally managed landfill operations.
Driving programs focused on renewable energy adoption, carbon emissions reduction, and improved water quality outcomes across Council operations.
Leading, coaching and developing a multidisciplinary team that works collaboratively with internal stakeholders, external providers, and the community to achieve improved environmental outcome.
Ensuring legislative compliance, and support Council’s strategic goals relating to sustainability, waste, and climate resilience.
Qualification/s in Environmental and Natural Resource Management, Sustainability, Waste Management or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience will be essential.
Experience leading waste management services or contracts, including kerbside collection, landfill oversight, or reuse/resource recovery operations will be ideal, along with management of projects, budgets, grants, and reporting for environmental or waste-related programs.
We are seeking a highly driven and skilled leader with a passion for excellence, outstanding attention to detail, high level computer literacy, and sound written and verbal communication skills.
