Metro bakery (Est 2009) set in the heart of Mount Gambier is looking for a skilled, experienced, and qualified pastry chef / cook to work under the supervision of the Head Chef.

As the full-time Pastry Chef / Cook, you will be responsible for maximizing customer satisfaction by providing the highest level of quality and consistency in the pastry items produced.

Key responsibilities will include:

Preparing cakes, biscuits, desserts, and pastry items for customers using best practice techniques and equipment as required

Ensuring all dishes are prepared consistently and according to standard

Maintaining awareness of new trends, ingredients and techniques in pastry and use this knowledge to assist the Head Chef in the creation of new innovative menu items

Assisting in the supervision, training, and coaching of other pastry cooks

Ensuring the section is organised and clean in accordance with hygiene standards

Ensuring that all equipment is used safely

Monitoring food and operating costs by reducing waste

Lead kitchen pastry operation in the absence of the Head Chef

What you will bring to the role:

Certificate III in Pastry /equivalent or Certificate III in Commercial Cookery with experience in desserts

Previous experience in a similar position in a fast paced environment

Proven knowledge and experience in all operational of kitchen administration and operations

Strong knowledge of Food Handling, Hygiene, HACCP

Passion for creating new concepts

Strong attention to detail with exceptional organisational and time management skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Flexibility to work on a rotating roster including weekends and public Holidays

Competitive salary range $76,500 to $80,000 +Super Negotiable depending on experience and skill level
