As a Field Officer, you will work directly with employers, schools, training providers, and community organisations to promote workforce development initiatives across the region. You will provide clear, accurate advice on VET programs, apprenticeships and traineeships, ensuring stakeholders are well informed and supported. Through regular site visits, interpreting departmental policies, and delivering excellent client service, you will help strengthen Queensland's training and employment landscape and support local workforce priorities.

This role provides the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution by promoting the benefits of training, increasing VET participation and completion rates, and helping build a skilled workforce for the future. Your ability to build strong relationships, resolve issues, and advocate for quality training opportunities will be key to your success.

As part of the DTET regional team, you will contribute to delivering localised services that align with the department's priorities. This includes:
• Regulating apprenticeships and traineeships to maintain high standards of training.
• Investing strategically in training to address skills shortages and improve workforce readiness.
• Supporting regional stakeholders to implement key programs such as Back to Work (BTW) and Skilling Queenslanders for Work (SQW).

You will also support continuous improvement in the VET sector and contribute to programs that showcase training excellence, such as the Queensland Training Awards.

About the role
As the Field Officer, you will:
• Provide guidance to employers, schools, training providers, and community organisations on VET programs, apprenticeships, traineeships, and workforce development initiatives.
• Promote the benefits of training, skills development, and VET pathways to increase participation and completion rates across Queensland.
• Support the planning and execution of regional training and workforce initiatives that create employment opportunities and address local skills gaps.

For a full list of duties and requirements, please refer to the role description.

What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will be someone who can:
• Demonstrate knowledge of, or the ability to quickly learn, Queensland's VET system, workforce development issues, and departmental programs.
• Research, collect and analyse data, investigate issues, manage projects, and make informed decisions to support regional objectives.
• Apply a principled and professional approach when working with colleagues and stakeholders, ensuring fairness and high-quality advice.

Everyone in the department is expected to role model leadership behaviours. This role requires the leadership capabilities of an Individual Contributor, as outlined in the Leadership Competencies for Queensland framework.

How to apply
To apply, please submit the following via the SmartJobs application page:
• Your current resume.
• A short statement (maximum one page) outlining why you are interested in this role and what motivates you to join our team.

Please ensure you refer to the Interested in Applying section of the role description for more detail on what to include in your application.
