At St Anthony’s Family Care (SAFC) in Croydon, we’re on the lookout for Permanent part time and Casual support workers for our Forge Day Program, weekend individual shifts and short-term accommodation designed specifically for young adults between 16-26 years old with a disability.

Our Services run Monday to Sunday from our fabulous new, purpose-built facilities, where fun meets learning. We support participants to pursue their individual goals and interests through a variety of activities such as cooking, arts and crafts, self-help skills, and gardening. We also enjoy regular outings to local spots like parks, beaches, museums, and cinemas.

About the Role:

As one of our valued support workers, you’ll play a key role to provide tailored support for participants in areas like self-care, meal prep, community outings, and skill-building adventures across various settings.

Roles Available:

Permanent Part Time

This is a permanent part-time opportunity (contracted 60 hours per fortnight, however additional hours may be available) with a schedule from Monday to Friday, between the span of hours - 8:00am to 6:00 pm.

Casual

We have a range of casual shifts available, including overnight stays in our Short-Term Accommodation, weekend day and evening work, and some weekday support. Flexibility and reliability to work across these times is essential.

We are looking for:

Staff who are committed to be part of a great, fun and collaborative team, with flexibility and availability being essential in this role.

Experience in working with people with disabilities, challenging behaviours, and complex physical disabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting our client's routines/care plans in a flexible manner, with a hands- on approach.

This includes:

Implementing daily activities that align with individual and group goals for participants.

Address participant concerns and behavioural challenges, implementing strategies to promote positive outcomes.

Providing care and support to participants with a diverse range of needs which may include complex behaviours.

Providing personal care, administering medication, meal preparation, housekeeping and participating in a range of activities both in the centre and the community.

Assist and encourage the positive development of skills and abilities in all areas of the participant’s life including assisting participants in achieving their goals and reach desired outcomes.

Have an understanding of the Disability Services and Inclusion Act, the NDIS Safeguarding Commission Framework, and the NDIS Code of Conduct.

Complete all documentation in a timely and efficient manner.

Ensure compliance with relevant policies, standards, and regulations, including safety and risk management protocols.

Address and mitigate any risks and complete documentation as required.

Essential Requirements

Relevant experience, qualifications, and training in community services, health, welfare or similar.

The ability to apply a high level of attention to detail, along with willingness to learn.

Demonstrated computer skills including using MS software and the ability to use client management systems.

Strong communication and organisational skills.

Able to effectively communicate in spoken and written English.

A positive attitude towards people with a disability and an understanding of NDIS.

A Current and Valid Australian Driver’s Licence & Full Comprehensive Insurance.

Current CPR and First Aid Certificate (required before you start)

NDIS Workers Screening Check/Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain)

NDIS Worker Orientation Module “Quality, Safety and You” Certificate

Demonstrated ability to provide support with personal care, domestic assistance, meal preparation, transport, and community participation

Experience in Centre maintenance and safe administration of medication to participants.

Self-motivation and hands on approach is required.
