Junior Manager - Risk & Compliance
Melbourne CBD | Full-time | Hybrid | Package $120k–$130k (incl. super)
Make the move in-house and influence real decisions.
If you’re in Risk & Compliance advisory (Big 4 or mid-tier) or an early in-house role and ready for broader ownership, this Junior Manager opportunity gives you hands-on scope, executive visibility and room to grow.
About the firm
A respected, mid-sized professional services group with national reach, operating under its own AFSL in a highly regulated environment. You’ll partner directly with leaders across investment, finance and fiduciary functions, with exposure to committee and board reporting.
The role
A practical, sleeves-up position focused on embedding and uplifting the Enterprise Risk & Compliance Frameworks across the business.
Key responsibilities
- Support risk culture & appetite activities (implementation, KPI reviews, annual risk-culture survey).
- Assist with practical implementation and improvement of risk & compliance frameworks and related policies.
- Maintain core registers and plans (enterprise risk register, compliance plan, control attestations).
- Provide guidance to business units on regulatory obligations and controls; monitor external changes; manage AFSL authorisations/training; maintain incidents/complaints to closure; liaise with auditors and support insurance reviews.
- Maintain risk & compliance training (e-learning content and programs).
- Execute assurance and reporting: control-testing schedules and file reviews; prepare reports for Leadership, Risk Committee/Board, and relevant compliance committees.
About you
You’re ready to step into junior-manager scope with the judgement to balance regulation and practicality.
- Degree qualified in commerce, accounting or finance related field. Additional risk/compliance training is a plus.
- 3–5 years’ experience in risk and/or compliance within consulting (Big 4/mid-tier) or a regulated financial services setting.
- Working knowledge of AFSL obligations, governance and internal control concepts; exposure to investments or professional services is valued.
- Strong communicator who can translate frameworks into usable guidance and build trust with senior stakeholders.
- Organised, proactive and detailed. Comfortable managing registers and evidence-based reporting.
Why this role?
- Step up into junior-manager accountability with mentoring from an experienced, collaborative executive team.
- Experience breadth over silos - see the whole business (investment, finance, fiduciary) and own outcomes, not just advice.
- Hybrid work, CBD location, supportive culture.
- An organisation big enough to challenge you, small enough that you’ll matter.
