About the Role
You'll be joining a passionate and collaborative team dedicated to delivering high quality conservation outcomes across Banyule's natural landscapes. Every day you'll be working alongside engaged and enthusiastic community members, contributing to meaningful environmental stewardship and local biodiversity initiatives.
You'll play a vital role in protecting and enhancing some of Melbourne's most scenic and ecologically rich environments making a lasting impact on the region's natural heritage.
What You'll Be Doing
Implementing targeted conservation and ecological restoration activities across high-value biodiversity reserves, in alignment with the strategic works plan developed by the Senior Ranger.
Engaging with and support community environmental volunteer groups, fostering collaborative stewardship of conservation reserves across Banyule.
Collaborating with other Bushland team members and Parks and Natural Environment staff contributing to the management and enhancement of diverse natural and amenity sites.
What you'll bring/what we are looking for
- Qualifications in Natural Resource Management or a related field
- Minimum 2 years' experience in bushland regeneration or urban revegetation
- Sound knowledge of native flora, particularly indigenous to Banyule
- Strong understanding of weed identification and integrated weed management practices
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate with stakeholders and the community
- A passion for environmental conservation and a hands-on approach to land care

- Agricultural chemical users certificate
- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC)

Work outdoors with a great team. The position will be based at the Yando Street Depot and / or Council's Parks Office in Bellfield as required.

About Banyule City Council
Banyule is less than 30 minutes travelling time from the CBD and it has an excellent public transport network with the Melbourne-Hurstbridge Railway Line running through it. There are nine railway stations within Banyule offering interesting and varied destinations from Ivanhoe, Eaglemont and Heidelberg in the south, which are nestled in a beautiful section of the Yarra Valley and steeped in history, to the rolling wooded hills of Montmorency in the north.
