We are looking for: 1 Full-time candidate; and 1 Part-time candidate.
Promote the values of CORE to provide clients with independence, participation, care, self-fulfilment and dignity. CORE staff will ensure clients are aware of their rights whilst building a level of understanding around responsibilities that come with some of these rights. The position requires a commitment to organizational values and the achievement of strategic and business objectives. The Casework Support Program is a Youth Justice initiative to provide case management support for young offenders aged 10-18 years. It is identified, support in specific areas of a young person’s life, like education and employment, could reduce the young person reoffending and allow for positive connections within the community. The role provides case management support to work with Juvenile Justice to identify case plan goals and support the young person to achieve these goals. The role focuses on supporting young offenders who are working with Campbelltown Youth Justice and or Bail Court with their case plan goal outcomes. This would include re-engaging young people with school, employment, social activities, community and cultural connections, general health and wellbeing and homelessness. This would include weekly contact with each client, home visits, working with families, referrals and advocacy with other services and regular reviews with Justice and the young person. Staff are required to meet set KPI’s.
This is an identified vacancy with a genuine occupational requirement for the position to be filled by candidates indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community. Candidates not meeting this criterion will not be considered.
Responsibilities Include:
- Undertake and meet all case management responsibilities in relation to young people case plan goals and outcomes.
- Maintain weekly, effective and meaningful contact with young people and family if required.
- Work within a client-centred, trauma-informed framework that is culturally appropriate.
- Have an understanding of and work towards supporting the Closing the Gap Targets and Outcomes.
- Engage with culturally appropriate services to support positive community connections and positive connections within their community.
- Provide clear and concise advice, assistance and/ or recommendation strategies to young people and their families in South West Sydney
- Actively marketing and promoting CORE Youth Services programs and activities to new prospective participants and service providers.
- Develop and maintain positive and effective professional working relationship with internal and external stakeholders.
- Meet set KPI’s and comply with reporting outcomes and timeframes.
- Comply with policy and procedures including WHS, MRG, child safe practices and ROSH reporting.

Selection Criteria
- Identified First Nations person. This is an identified case worker position and therefore the worker must be an Aboriginal Community member.
- Relevant qualifications to support the case management of young people.
- Demonstrated experience in case management from a strengths-based, trauma-informed and family-focused framework. Staff are willing to take on an enthusiastic, community connected Aboriginal person and train them in this position.
- Awareness of child protection issues, with the capacity to identify levels of risk requiring statutory child protection intervention.
- Knowledge of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998
- Previous experience in a similar role or able to demonstrate transferable skills into this role.
- Demonstrated understanding of the issues faced by young people and an ability to advocate for social justice outcomes for the communities that you represent.
- Drivers Licence
- Strong communication, customer service, negotiation and influencing skills. Including resilience, with the ability to work under pressure and manage high volume workloads.
- Demonstrated dedication to work within professional boundaries, integrity and ethical standards.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) individuals and communities.
- Demonstrated competence in community liaison and community capacity building, working with a range of appropriate professionals in youth related services.
- Previous experience working with young people (aged 12-18 years).
- Experience in CIMS or similar client management software packages.
