About the Role
We are looking for Multiple Communication & Engagement Officers. You will play a pivotal role in shaping, coordinating and executing communications and engagement for this large linear infrastructure project. Working closely with project teams and the broader organisation, you’ll ensure messaging is consistent, targeted and responsive to diverse audiences. This role is more than writing — it requires strategic thinking, stakeholder diplomacy, media savvy and capacity to support ministerial needs.
- Contract: until 30 June 2026
- Rate (Senior Communication & Engagement Officer): $600–$650/day + super
- Rate (Communication & Engagement Officer): $550–$600/day + super
- Working Hours: 8 hours/day, 5 days/week
- Offices in Sydney or Newcastle (NSW residents only)
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement integrated communications plans aligned with project strategy
- Draft high‑quality materials (media releases, fact sheets, briefs, talking points, reports)
- Lead media relations, campaigns, social and digital communications, reputation management
- Coordinate with stakeholder and community teams — landowners, Aboriginal groups, councils, MPs
- Support public exhibitions, pop‑ups, community events, information sessions
- Handle ministerial support: briefs, priority requests, speeches, event logistics
- Monitor issues, respond quickly to reputational risks, escalate and manage sensitive matters
- Track metrics, report on communications effectiveness, feedback and continuous improvement
- Ensure consistency in branding, messaging and tone across all collateral
- Foster strong internal collaboration and ensure alignment across business units
- Prepare handover documentation and continuity plans ahead of 2026 transition
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media, Public Relations or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated experience in communications and engagement on major linear infrastructure or energy projects (including through public exhibition phase)
- Experience in working with Aboriginal stakeholders
- Knowledge of government processes, planning, approvals and regulatory consultation
- Familiarity with communications analytics, measurement frameworks and reporting
- Proficiency with design software or content management systems
- Strong stakeholder management skills; able to build relationships across government, community, project teams
- Excellent writing and editing ability with ability to distil complex content into clear, plain English
- Media relations experience, including handling issues and responding to enquiries
- Competence in digital and social media communications
- Ability to prioritise under pressure, manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
- Must have full Australian working rights (citizenship, permanent residency, or long-term visa holders)
