About the Role

The Technical Lead — Front-End is a hands-on engineering leader who will own the front-end platform end-to-end: architect, build, deploy, and operate. You will guide front-end architecture for web applications and booking systems, implement modern React/Next.js solutions, and take responsibility for operational health in production. While a backend team provides APIs and server-side features, this role owns the front-end deployment, CI/CD, hosting, monitoring, and incident response. The person we hire must be able to take a feature from code to production and keep it running reliably.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and operate front-end applications (React/Next.js) in an API-driven ecosystem.
• Own build & run responsibilities: CI/CD pipelines, deployment flows, hosting, release strategies, rollbacks, and production monitoring.
• Integrate with authentication providers and external APIs, maintaining secure and reliable client-server contracts.
• Drive performance, accessibility, resilience, and global delivery strategies for web platforms.
• Define and enforce engineering standards: code review, automated testing, branching/release strategy.
• Mentor and grow a small front-end team; hire or scale capability as needed.
• Collaborate with product and design to align technical delivery with user outcomes.
• Lead incident response and post-mortems for front-end issues.

Skills & Experience

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on ownership of front-end platforms; strong expertise in React and Next.js.
• Proven track record of building and operating production web apps, including CI/CD, deployment pipelines, rollbacks, monitoring, and incident management.
• Experience with hosting and deployment platforms (e.g., Vercel, AWS, Azure) and understanding trade-offs.
• Experience integrating authentication (Auth0, OAuth, JWT) and securing client/server interactions.
• Familiarity with Node.js for light backend tasks; working knowledge of relational or document databases (Postgres, MongoDB).
• Strong understanding of performance optimisation, caching strategies, CDNs, and global delivery considerations.
• Comfortable with automated testing and embedding tests into pipelines (unit, integration, e2e).
• Experience defining release strategies (feature flags, canary, blue/green) and running incident/playbook processes.
• Demonstrated leadership: mentoring developers, owning architecture, and driving delivery in fast-moving teams.
• Excellent communicator able to balance pragmatic delivery with long-term technical health.
