Are you an experienced planner ready to shape the future of a growing city?
The City of Armadale is seeking a Senior Statutory/Strategic Planner to play a pivotal role in guiding development, delivering quality community outcomes, and influencing the long-term growth of our community.
About the Role
As a senior member of our planning team, you’ll:

  • Lead and assess complex planning projects including structure plans, scheme amendments, subdivisions, and development applications.
  • Provide expert statutory and strategic planning advice to Council, management, and the community.
  • Contribute to the City’s Strategic Plan and Corporate Business Plan with evidence-based recommendations.
  • Negotiate with developers, agencies, and stakeholders to achieve outcomes that balance growth, community needs, and sustainability.
  • Mentor and support colleagues across the City who contribute to the approvals process.

This role offers the opportunity to influence urban and rural planning outcomes and contribute to innovative projects that support the City’s future growth.
About You
You will bring:

  • A degree in Urban and Regional Planning (or equivalent, recognised by the Planning Institute of Australia).
  • Extensive experience in statutory and strategic planning, ideally within local or state government.
  • Strong knowledge of planning legislation including the Planning & Development Act 2005 and local planning schemes.
  • Proven ability to negotiate, advise, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advanced analytical, research, and problem-solving skills to tackle complex planning issues.
