Manager Strategic Planning
Permanent, Full-Time | City of Armadale
Salary package: $119,500 – $154,000 + super + vehicle/car allowance
Shape the future of a fast-growing City.

At the City of Armadale, we’re planning for a community that is rapidly expanding and diversifying. We’re seeking a Manager Strategic Planning who thrives on structure, frameworks, and analysis – someone who can translate data, policy, and vision into practical strategies that shape the future of our City.

Why join us?
• Lead a multidisciplinary team across Strategic Planning, GIS, and Special Projects.
• Deliver evidence-based policies, schemes, and frameworks that balance growth, sustainability, and liveability.
• Influence outcomes for a regional centre experiencing significant growth and renewal, including major precinct planning, corridor redevelopment, and Metronet integration.
• Enjoy a comprehensive package including salary, superannuation, and a vehicle or car allowance.
• Work in a values-driven organisation that supports collaboration, accountability, and innovation.

What you’ll do
• Lead the City’s long-term planning frameworks – oversee the Local Planning Strategy, Local Planning Scheme, and key policies.
• Deliver complex projects and policy outcomes – including growth area planning, regeneration projects, and infrastructure contribution frameworks.
• Provide high-level advice and advocacy – represent the City at State and regional forums.
• Drive governance and accountability – manage budgets, reporting, and risk with precision.
• Develop and grow a high-performing team – set direction, coach, and support your staff to achieve operational excellence.

About you
You’re a planner who thrives on clarity, structure, and measurable outcomes. You balance technical expertise with leadership capability, and you’re motivated by the opportunity to influence how a growing City develops.

You’ll bring:
• Tertiary qualifications in Urban & Regional Planning, Sustainable Development, Environmental Science or a related field.
• Significant experience in strategic planning, policy development, and managing complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of WA planning legislation and governance frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing consultants.
• Excellent communication skills to present complex matters clearly to diverse stakeholders.

What’s in it for you?
• A competitive salary package $119,500 – $154,000 + super + vehicle / car allowance
• Generous superannuation arrangements (salary sacrificing options; potential matching where applicable)
• Flexible working arrangements — hybrid options, flexible start/finish times, rostered days off
• Professional development & training support, including study assistance and conference access
• Employee Assistance Program (EAP) – confidential support for you and your immediate family
• Access to health & wellbeing initiatives, such as flu vaccination programs, skin checks, mental health support
• Free parking at City facilities and logistical support to help with daily commuting
• Recognition of long service and prior local government service (subject to eligibility)
• Work–life balance support: leave options, flexible hours, and time in lieu/compensation for additional hours worked (where operationally feasible)
• Be part of a supportive, values-driven culture: Care, Better Together, Learn & Grow, Seize Today – Shape Tomorrow
