About the role:
The Counter Terrorism Command (CTC) Security Investigation Unit (SIU) is a specialist area within Victoria Police that works with partner agencies to investigate, disrupt, and mitigate the risk of terrorism and politically motivated violence in Victoria.
This position supports the delivery of services by Victoria Police for the High-Risk Terrorism Offender (HRTO) regime, including the provision and disclosure of information relevant to HRTO orders.
This position also works within a team of supervisors to manage the workload, professional development, training, and tradecraft of intelligence practitioners within SIU. The intelligence supervisory team works closely with SIU senior management on governance, process, and intelligence projects relevant to the work unit. This role may require the successful applicant to perform a variety of tactical intelligence functions as well as write and quality-assure the completion of intelligence products.

Your duties will include:
- The identification, assessment, and preparation of information in response to requests for information from the Attorney-General's Department and Australian Federal Police to assist in the assessment and/or application of HRTO-eligible offenders.
- Assistance with compliance with HRTO orders including liaison between the Australian Federal Police and CTC.
- Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to intelligence practitioners.
- Administer and undertake governance of personnel matters, including but not limited to rostering, performance and welfare.
- Review assessments and intelligence products pertaining to the Victorian national security environment for compliance with organisational standards and provide constructive feedback.
- Produce high quality intelligence products relevant to the Victorian national security environment.
- Respond to requests from other law enforcement and intelligence units.
- Monitor compliance with local instructions, policy and legislation in relation to information security, privacy and dissemination of information.
- Execute decision making within scope of authority and make recommendations to senior management on reports relating to national security themes.
- Prepare documents for, attend or facilitate, and provide advice to internal and interagency meetings.
- Drive initiatives and strategies to continuously improve practices and procedures of the work unit.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide training (formal/informal) regarding technical skills and relevant subject matter.
- Provide expertise and supplementary tactical intelligence to investigative teams as required.
About You:
The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Demonstrated experience in the supervision of intelligence and people
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- A tertiary qualification in related fields of intelligence, criminology or national security themes is highly desirable
- A current National Security Clearance of Negative Vetting Level 1 is highly desirable
Further Information:
- One (1) x full-time, fixed term position until 30-Jun-2027 available.
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
