About the role:
The Victoria Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (VFTAC) is a proactive, multidisciplinary initiative established in March 2018 to assess and manage problematic behaviours exhibited by lone individuals with complex needs. VFTAC comprises of three teams consisting of police investigators, senior mental health clinicians and intelligence analysts. The teams work collaboratively to prevent acts of grievance fuelled violence thereby supporting community safety.
The Team Leader Senior Analyst reports to the VFTAC Inspector and is responsible for managing a team of intelligence staff and maintaining an oversight of intelligence-related tasking that has been identified. The intelligence team is responsible for providing high quality intelligence analysis and support to both internal members, other work units and external stakeholders.

Your duties will include:
- managing the VFTAC intelligence team, providing leadership and guidance to support the production of high-quality intelligence products. This includes managing the team's professional development, managing employee leave and rosters to ensure appropriate service delivery.
- forming part of the VFTAC management team and effectively representing and advocating for the intelligence team members whilst providing oversight of intelligence tasks.
- collecting, collating, and evaluating information to produce high-quality strategic and operational intelligence products to assist the investigative team,
- contributing to the development of education and training packages, including delivery to operational staff and external stakeholders,
- providing support to planning and implementation of VFTAC operations,
- identifying, assessing, and reporting on specific VFTAC persons of interest,
- liaising and developing strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders,
- maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of intelligence processes,
- providing input into the maintenance and improvement of systems, regulations and policies,
- efficiently utilising a range of computer systems and applications to provide high-quality analysis.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
- highly developed conceptual, analytical and written/oral communication skills,
- experience in the development and dissemination of intelligence analysis,
- highly developed ability to review information and identify trends, anticipate problems and recommend actionable solutions,
- tertiary qualifications in related fields of criminology, criminal justice, or criminal intelligence are highly desirable.
Requirements and relevant information:
- Two (2) full-time, fixed-term position available until 30 June 2027,
- This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands,
- The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian citizen,
- The successful candidate will be required to undergo pre-employment checks which may include fingerprint checks and misconduct screening.
