AWS Cloud Engineer – Contract Opportunity

Start Date: Monday, 17 November 2025
Duration: 12 months (with 12-month extension option)
Location: QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW (Hybrid)
Clearance: Ability to obtain Baseline Security Clearance
Hours: Up to 40 per week

We are seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer (EL1 equivalent) to play a key role in the design, implementation, and optimisation of scalable, secure, and robust AWS-based systems. This position will work across complex government programs and projects, contributing to the delivery of cloud platforms that align with organisational strategy, technical blueprints, and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with architects, engineers, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver AWS cloud solutions that are secure, scalable, and cost-effective.
• Provide technical expertise and mentorship, ensuring best practice in design, architecture, and delivery.
• Contribute to solution architecture, cloud migration, hybrid cloud design, and microservice-based systems.
• Incorporate compliance and security standards into all solutions, mitigating risks and protecting sensitive data.
• Document architectures, specifications, and engineering artefacts in line with organisational and regulatory standards.
• Research and assess emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency improvements.
• Analyse and optimise system performance to ensure high availability and reliability.

About You

• 5–7+ years of IT experience in cloud engineering or technical delivery, ideally within large, complex projects.
• Strong expertise in AWS cloud services and architectures (experience with Azure/Google Cloud also valued).
• Experience with AWS services such as Landing Zone, Networking, API Gateway, Lambda, RDS, and Aurora.
• Skilled in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Ability to translate business requirements into effective cloud solutions with clear documentation.
• Strong communication and consulting skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in agile environments with adaptability to shifting priorities.
• Desirable experience in integration architecture, identity management, and government frameworks.
