About the role

At GEMCON Building, we are seeking a talented and experienced Leading Hand to join our dynamic team. This full-time role is a crucial part of our construction operations, overseeing the day-to-day activities of our on-site workforce and ensuring the successful delivery of our projects.

What you'll be doing

Coordinating construction work and ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards

Coordinating materials and equipment including picking up and dropping off material as required

Ordering materials, equipment and labour, to maximise productivity

Maintaining site security and fences

Ordering site amenities

Arranging for skip bin changeovers

Installation and maintenance of site safety measures including handrails, bunting etc

Site cleaning and maintenance

Monitoring progress and quality of work, and implementing necessary corrective actions

Communicating regularly with the project manager

Ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations

Assisting with the planning and scheduling of construction activities

Manual handling and being ‘on the tools’ as required

What we're looking for

Someone with experience as a Leading Hand with a proven track record of successfully working on construction projects

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate teams

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on finding practical solutions

Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials and equipment, as well as relevant health and safety regulations

Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings, plans and specifications

Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

Relevant qualifications, such as a Certificate IV in Building and Construction or equivalent

A fast-paced and can-do attitude is a must!

Work is all over Sydney and Western Sydney
