SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator. Our focus is to protect NSW workers by preventing and reducing work related fatalities, serious injuries, and illnesses by securing compliance with work health and safety and associated legislation.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly established and growing team within People and Corporate Services, focused on building a collaborative culture that prioritises the safety and wellbeing of all staff. In the Advisor, Safety & Wellbeing role, you'll deliver high-quality professional advice and guidance across a broad range of physical and psychological work health and safety (WHS) services. This role contributes to the development and improvement of WHS policies, procedures, and practices, helping to shape a safe, compliant, and supportive workplace. As part of a team driving strategic uplift and expansion, the roles work will directly support key organisational priorities in a dynamic and inclusive environment that values innovation, teamwork, and professional growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing expert advice and support to managers and employees on managing physical and psychosocial WHS risks.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support risk mitigation and strategic wellbeing initiatives.
  • Responding to and assist in investigating WHS hazards and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and implementation of action plans.
  • Engaging with managers, workers, and consultative groups to drive WHS initiatives and promote legislative compliance.
  • Review and updating WHS policies, procedures, and communications to improve system effectiveness.
  • Sharing relevant legislative updates and industry innovations to enhance the organisation's WHS framework.
  • Supporting proactive risk management strategies, including training needs analysis and reporting mechanisms.
  • Maintaining accurate records and contribute to the broader responsibilities of the Wellbeing and Safety team.
  • Coordinating communication systems and ensure confidentiality in all WHS related documentation and processes.

About You:

We are looking for a:

  • Trusted advisor with strong knowledge of WHS legislation and best practices.
  • Confident managing both physical and psychosocial safety risks in a complex environment.
  • Skilled in incident response and investigation, with a focus on timely and effective resolution.
  • Strong communicator who builds relationships with diverse stakeholders to drive safety outcomes.
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing practical solutions.
  • Across industry trends and legislative changes, sharing insights to strengthen WHS systems.
  • Organised and detail-oriented, with a commitment to maintaining accurate and confidential records.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing competing priorities with professionalism and care.
  • Resilient and empathetic, able to support others through sensitive or challenging situations.
  • Passionate about contributing to a safe, inclusive, and forward-thinking workplace.
