Position overview
The Australian National University (ANU) is seeking two highly skilled and motivated Senior Performance Analysts to join the Planning, Data & Analytics Division. These are pivotal roles within the University’s Planning and University Performance team, which is responsible for delivering key insights that inform strategic decision-making across the institution including analysis and reporting on a broad range of performance metrics relating to students and staff.
As a Senior Performance Analyst, your work will support executive leadership, academic colleges, and administrative units through rigorous data analysis, benchmarking, and environmental scanning. You will also contribute to the development of performance reporting tools (including BI dashboards),frameworks and reporting metrics.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting robust quantitative and qualitative analysis to assess institutional performance
- Producing timely and accurate reports, visualisations, and executive briefings
- Leading benchmarking and competitor analysis initiatives
- Supporting strategic planning through high-level modelling and statistical research
- Mentoring team members and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement
- Make a significant contribution to planning, school reviews and maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of higher education policy, compliance and governance.
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
- Postgraduate qualifications or extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in statistics, data science, computer science, or a related field, with extensive experience in analytics leadership. Qualifications in Economics, Financial Management, Social Research or Statistics or a similar field are desirable.
- Strategic thinking with advanced analytical skills and a strong understanding of performance metrics in a higher education context.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, data storytelling, and the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights. Proficiency in Power BI, Excel and statistical tools such as TM1, SPSS, or Cognos is highly desirable.
- Ability to assess priorities and manage competing deadlines both independently and as a member of a team and the capacity to contribute to building a skilled team focused on high-quality customer service.
- High-level communication and skills sophisticated organisational skills to support complex school and administrative reviews.
