Operations & Administrative Clerk
12-Month Maternity Cover (Potential Ongoing)

Elm Cleaning is a well-established, family-owned cleaning company with over 14 years of experience delivering premium home and commercial cleaning services. We are seeking a reliable, organised, and professional Operations & Administrative Clerk to join our team on a 12-month maternity cover contract, with the potential for ongoing employment for the right candidate.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role—not a desk-bound position. You'll be the first point of contact for clients and a key support for our cleaning team of 15 staff across multiple sites. Confidence, professionalism, and strong communication skills are essential.

Field Work Requirement (First 2-3 Weeks)

To ensure you understand our cleaning standards, methods, and team requirements from the ground up, all successful candidates will complete 2-3 weeks of field work before transitioning to office-based duties.

What this involves:

Working alongside our cleaning team on 1-2 client jobs

Learning our cleaning methods, quality standards, and operational procedures

Understanding the day-to-day realities and challenges our team members face

Building credibility and rapport with the team you'll be supporting

After field work:

Return to the office for structured administrative training

Transition to office-based operations and administrative duties full-time

This hands-on experience is essential for success in this role and will give you the knowledge and credibility needed to effectively support both clients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Support and oversee a team of 15 cleaners across multiple client sites

Coordinate daily schedules, team rosters, and timesheet management

Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear, responsive communication

Manage client calls and emails promptly and professionally

Maintain staff records, compliance documentation, and reporting

Manage supply orders and staff checklists

Onboard and provide induction support to new team members

Work closely with management and provide regular operational updates

Handle emergencies, cancellations, or client concerns with professionalism and composure

Essential Requirements

Minimum 2 years' experience in administration, operations, or team coordination

Confident communication skills – both verbal and written, with excellent phone manner

Strong computer proficiency – Excel, email, scheduling/CRM systems

Proven reliability – able to manage competing priorities and meet commitments

Professional approach – excellent organisation and time management

Willingness to complete field work – 2-3 weeks of hands-on cleaning work as part of your induction

Strong references – we highly value a proven track record

Highly Regarded:

Previous experience in a cleaning, hospitality, or service-based business

Experience managing or coordinating teams in a service environment
