Role Purpose

The Social Media Assistant supports the creation, capture, and delivery of engaging digital content across all Happiness Group channels. This part-time role (24 hours per week with a flexible spread) helps grow our online community, promote programs and events, and showcase our impact. It blends creativity, organisation, and technical skills to keep our digital presence fresh and inspiring.

Key Responsibilities

Content Creation & Scheduling

Produce high-quality social media posts (images, reels, stories, videos, captions) for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, and other platforms.

Draft and schedule posts using tools such as Meta Business Suite, Later, or Canva.

On-Site Content Capture

Attend events, workshops, and activations to capture photos and videos that showcase Happiness Co and Happiness Co Foundation programs.

Edit and deliver content quickly for use on social media, websites, and partner promotions.

Work with facilitators and event teams to identify key moments and stories to highlight.

Community Engagement

Monitor comments, messages, and tagged content; respond promptly and in a brand-aligned way.

Engage with partner organisations, supporters, and collaborators to strengthen community relationships.

Campaign, EDM & Website Support

Create and send email campaigns and newsletters (EDMs) using platforms such as Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor, or similar.

Draft and upload website updates including news items, blog posts, event pages, and new program information using content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Squarespace, or similar).

Assist in keeping website content accurate, visually appealing, and aligned with current campaigns.

Content Planning & Reporting

Contribute to monthly content calendars and brainstorm creative ideas with the marketing team.

Track engagement, reach, and growth metrics; support basic reporting and insights.

Brand & Visual Consistency

Apply Happiness Co’s brand guidelines (colours, typography, voice) across all content.

Maintain a well-organised library of photos, videos, and design assets.

Skills & Experience

Proven experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok).

Strong photography and short-form video skills for events and activations.

Basic graphic design skills (Canva or Adobe Creative Suite preferred).

Ability to create and schedule EDMs (e.g., Mailchimp, Campaign Monitor, Klaviyo).

Experience with website updates and basic CMS (WordPress, Squarespace, or similar).

Excellent written communication and storytelling abilities.

Strong organisational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
