This position is the immediate connection between Council and the Community. A champion of culture and inclusivity, you will provide leadership and direction to the Administrative, Community and Corporate Services Team, whilst supporting the Chief Executive Officer with operational outcomes to attain the strategic objectives of the Council. This position is a clear commitment from the administration and elected members that the community matters and is at the heart of everything they do.

District Council of Mount Remarkable is home to some of the world’s most diverse geographical land with a unique natural coastline on one boundary, and some of the world’s most productive agricultural land on the other. Central to the location is the Remarkable Southern Flinders, a distinctive and growth tourism destination. Approximately 205 km from Adelaide, the major townships within the district are Booleroo Centre, Melrose, Port Germein, Weeroona Island, Wilmington and Wirrabara.

Key responsibilities will include:

Positively and consistently model the Council’s Vision, Mission and values in all aspects of work life, and support behaviours which comply with these values

Be the primary conduit between council and the community

Champion economic development and tourism in the region

Developing and maintaining an excellent working knowledge of all applicable statutory requirements and guidelines and apply this knowledge to the Council.

Leading the preparation of Council’s Annual Business Plan and Long Term Financial Plan

Overseeing the development of Annual Budgets and Financial Reports

Developing and managing the Internal Audit function, and developing and supporting the Council’s Corporate Risk Management System

Identifying opportunities to integrate business systems to support effective operations and service provision across the organisation

Implementing appropriate policy development within areas of responsibility, including engaging with stakeholders as required.

You are an existing or aspiring General Manager, with a proven track record of success in a similar role and/or setting, and are seeking to make a difference in a diverse community offering a quality country lifestyle.
