Be part of the dynamic Counselling Violence Prevention & Response Team in Child Youth & Family Services. The Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service provides a strengths based, trauma informed and culturally safe program delivered in partnership with Drug & Alcohol and other health and non-government services.

The Substance Use in Pregnancy and Parenting Service provides specialist parenting support and promotes healthy child development and safety to families with children aged 0-5 years who have experienced substance use in pregnancy and/or parenting. You will be based in Botany conducting outreach and home visiting across the Eastern suburbs within SESLHD.

Selection Criteria:

  1. Current Nursing registration National Registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA), and relevant postgraduate qualifications related to the specialty area of Child and Family Health, with at least 3 years recent clinical experience working with children and their families or such other qualifications or equivalent experience deemed appropriate.
  2. Demonstrated understanding of and experience providing evidence-based health promotion, assessment, prevention and early intervention services to children and their families, particularly those experiencing vulnerabilities.
  3. Demonstrated ability to manage complex clinical care and service delivery issues and problem solve through the development of clinical management plans in consultation with health and social services.
  4. Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision-making, and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and within an interagency context to provide high quality integrated care to children and families.
  5. Demonstrated skills in the development and facilitation of parent/carer and staff education in health settings as required.
  6. Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, the ability to negotiate and problem solve; and the capacity to collaborate with and influence health professionals.
  7. Detailed knowledge and understanding of harm minimisation and evidence of leadership in safety and quality innovation.
  8. Current drivers licence (or a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position).
