The Role
As an APS5 Recruitment Officer, you’ll take ownership of recruitment and onboarding processes, supporting corporate areas and regional hostels. This is a 12-month non-ongoing position, based in Canberra. While the role requires full office attendance initially, hybrid arrangements may be negotiated after the first few months.

Duties

• Deliver end-to-end recruitment including consultation, advertising, selection, and candidate management.
• Provide accurate and timely advice on recruitment policies and merit principles.
• Support onboarding, pre-employment checks, contracts, and conditions of engagement.
• Contribute to process improvements and ensure culturally safe, inclusive recruitment practices.

Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated APS recruitment experience with knowledge of the Public Service Act and merit-based selection.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with ability to work independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Collaborative, customer-focused approach with a commitment to cultural safety and equity.
