Federal Government Department is seeking an APS5 Personnel Security Officer.

Hays is currently working with a large Federal Government Department with office locations throughout Australia. The department's Security branch is currently seeking an APS5 Personnel Security Officer.
Your new role
This role is central to managing the department's personnel security arrangements, including security clearance processes, pre-employment screening, ongoing suitability assessments, and separation activities.
- Manage personnel security processes including clearances, suitability assessments, and aftercare programs.
- Oversee eligibility and suitability decisions, including citizenship waivers and temporary access.
- Provide support to Health's portfolio entities on personnel security matters.
- Contribute to governance and reporting activities within the section.
- Undertake SAP data remediation to improve compliance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
- Deliver accurate, policy-based advice to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through responsive and professional service.
- Support the broader Section and Branch as required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Certificate IV in Government Security (Personnel Vetting)
- A well-motivated, flexible, and engaged team player.
- Strong understanding of personnel security policy and its practical application.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capabilities.
- Ability to analyse data and prepare high-quality reports and advice.
- Experience in managing personnel security correspondence and administrative tasks.
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- You must be an Australian Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain an NV1 Security Clearance.
