Role Summary

The Recruitment Team sits as part of the broader People Command. We provide expert recruitment advice and services to our internal clients, represent the AFP brand as the first point of customer service for candidates, and ultimately support the strategic intent of the AFP by recruiting the people we need, both now and for the future.
As the AFP continues to expand, we anticipate upcoming vacancies in our Recruitment Branch at the Band 4 and Band 5 levels within the below teams:
- Talent Acquisition Services Team - Responsible for the recruitment of support (corporate services) and specialist roles into the AFP, as well as any internal recruitment. The team works closely with our internal clients to understand their talent needs, develop attraction strategies, and guide them through the recruitment process with advice and processing support.
- Sworn Recruitment Team - Responsible for bulk recruitment for new police and protective service officer recruits. The team administers bulk recruitment and assessment centres year round, supporting candidates through their journey towards becoming police officers and protective service officers.
- Emerging Talent Team - Responsible for bulk recruitment programs including the AFP’s Graduate and First Nations Pathway Program, the team’s work involves managing annual bulk recruitment processes and providing program management support to program participants within the business, as well as our internal clients who supervise participants.
What will you do?
Generally day to day responsibilities may include:
- Processing recruitment actions and selection outcomes using the in-house recruitment system (SAP Success Factors).
- Providing candidate care via email and phone as applicants move through various recruitment gateways, including a high level of customer service in response to queries through the AFP Recruitment hotline and via our central mailbox.
- Being a positive and informative brand ambassador for the AFP in interactions with candidates and any attendance at Career Fairs
- If required, participate in recruitment and selection assessment centres
- Generating letters of offer, and relevant documentation to ensure a positive and timely onboarding experience.
- Liaising with a variety of internal stakeholders in response to their recruitment requirements to ensure operational and business needs are met.
- Contributing to the review and evaluation of recruitment policies and processes to enhance the delivery of recruitment to the AFP.
- Producing reports and updates on recruitment processes and other relevant statistics.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the Band 5 will:
- Advertise vacancies internally or on external job boards including Seek, APSJobs, Linkedin etc (Band 5).
- Think creatively and strategically in the way we market, target and attract critical and required skill sets.
- Assist with the ongoing improvements and maintenance of policies and procedures relating to recruitment and talent processes.
- Assist with reform work and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the recruitment function.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
- You must be an Australian Citizen at the time of application.
- A Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
- High level customer service skills.
- Demonstrated experience in administrative/customer service roles or related fields is essential for the Band 4.
- 2-3 years demonstrated experience in recruitment is essential if you are applying for the Band 5.
Desirable Requirements
- Experience using SAP Success Factors.
- Relevant HR qualifications or progress towards achieving this.
Additional Notes
- This role is an AFP Band 4 and 5 level.
- This role is located in Canberra and Melbourne and applicants are expected to be based in these areas.
