As a full-time cook for Dish Sri Lankan Street Food, your role will involve preparing a wide range of dishes that showcase the rich culinary heritage of Sri Lanka while also incorporating modern twists. Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

1. Preparation of Ingredients: Selecting, cleaning, and chopping fresh ingredients, including vegetables, meats, and spices essential for authentic Sri Lankan dishes.

2. Cooking: Mastering the art of various cooking techniques used in Sri Lankan cuisine, including frying, boiling, and steaming to create mouth-watering dishes. You’ll be responsible for preparing popular street food items like hoppers, kottu roti, and kiosks-style rolls.

3. Fusion Creation: Experimenting with and developing new recipes that blend traditional Sri Lankan flavors with contemporary Western influences. This might involve creating unique sambols, curries, and buns that reflect both heritages.

4. Menu Development: Contributing ideas for seasonal menu changes or new dishes to keep the offerings fresh and exciting for repeat customers while maintaining the authenticity that Dish is known for.

5. Presentation: Ensuring all dishes are plated beautifully to enhance the visual appeal, as presentation is critical in the dining experience.

6. Maintaining Quality: Keeping track of food quality, portion sizes, and ensuring that every dish meets the restaurant’s high standards.

7. Health and Safety Compliance: Following all health and safety regulations in the kitchen, including food handling, cleanliness, and sanitation practices.

8. Collaboration: Working as part of a team, communicating with other cooks, servers, and management to ensure service runs smoothly during busy periods.
