What ACSO can offer you

  • $45,200 base salary at 0.5 FTE (pro rata $90,400) + 12% superannuation + NFP salary packaging options (more after tax $ in your pocket!)

About the program

The Assertive Outreach Service (AOS) will design and deliver an assertive outreach and case management program that seeks to break down the barriers experienced by the target cohort in accessing services to meet their individual's needs, with the aim of reducing their risk of harm to others.

The two key components of the AOS program are delivery of assertive outreach and case management. These services will be delivered by multidisciplinary teams who hold relevant qualifications and have a broad range of experience working across the target cohort.

About the role

The Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Assertive Outreach Worker will provide flexible and culturally safe support to participants who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and who are experiencing complex needs.

This role will:

  • Deliver assertive outreach and case management support to help participants overcome barriers to accessing services, improve wellbeing, and strengthen connections with community.
  • Manage a caseload of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander participants with complex needs, supporting them to build resilience, stability, and independence.
  • Build strong partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and stakeholders to enhance engagement and improve outcomes.

What we're looking for

This role could suit a somebody who has transferable skills and is looking for a new opportunity to develop community services and casework skills. What's most important to us is someone with the right attitude, values and who has the desire to learn. You will have/be:

  • Qualification in community services, alcohol and/or other drugs, mental health, social work or other health-related field preferred
  • Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people in a culturally safe and responsive manner
  • Willingness to work with high needs individuals, assessing and managing risk
  • Ability to build positive relationships and communicate with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Demonstrated capacity to work flexibly, possess the ability to manage competing demands, and able to effectively set boundaries and limits where required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Competence in using PC-based office applications (i.e., Microsoft Office) and internet

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience working with people with multiple complex needs
  • Experience developing support plans and goal attainment strategies
  • Knowledge and competency in casework practices, including working with complex clients
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate on behalf of people you support
  • Strong negotiation, conflict resolution and mediation skills
