As one of the oldest local councils, our client manages a diverse community, focusing on enhancing the environment, preserving heritage, and fostering community. They work towards enhancing and implementing sustainability initiatives to meet present needs without compromising the future while also building a sense of community and celebrating the diverse cultures through heritage and social initiatives.

As the Financial Planning & Reporting Manager, you will be responsible for effective leadership, integration & oversight of Council’s financial planning, budgets and reporting, internal controls and financial compliance.

Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, your role will include:

Managing and leading the year end process

Undertake all aspects of the annual budget and financial plans including budget reviews, analysis and financial modelling

Revenue and cost analysis to identify opportunities for additional revenue and identifying real cost of services

Ensuring the General Ledger maintains integrity ensuring compliance

Provide leadership and coaching to the team

Provide support and detailed reports to the Senior Management team and stakeholders

To be proactive in identifying opportunities for process improvement and cost minimisation to achieve operational efficiencies

Key Criteria:

You will be CA or CPA qualified

Have worked within a similar role within Local Government

Possess strong commercial acumen and a problem solving mindset

A proactive professional with an eye for continuous improvement

Willing and confident in challenging the status quo, influence decisions and deliver value add solutions to all levels of the organisation

Be an excellent communicator with the ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional stakeholders
