Contract Role: Spatial Data Management Specialist - Lead Data Governance and Quality
Are you an experienced Spatial Data Management Specialist ready to step into a key governance role? An exciting 12-month contract is available in a major utility organisation, focusing on developing and maturing their spatial data management program.
This is a fantastic opportunity to leverage your FME, Esri GIS, and spatial SQL expertise to lead data quality, automate processes, and drive data-sharing initiatives across a complex enterprise and its external partners.
The Opportunity & The Benefits
12-Month Contract to cover a maternity leave.
Highly Competitive Rate: $85−$100 per hour (inclusive of superannuation).
Hybrid Working Model: Enjoy a great work/life balance with 3 days in the CBD office and 2 days working from home.
Prime Location (Melbourne CBD).
Your Role: Driving Spatial Data Excellence
You will be instrumental in embedding an effective data management program. Your core responsibilities will include:
Governance & Strategy: Leading spatial data governance, including identifying and liaising with technical and business data owners, and actively contributing to the maturity of the Data Sharing Program.
Automation: Designing and implementing advanced automated processes using FME and other tools for loading, exporting, and maintaining spatial datasets.
Data Quality & Metadata: Taking the lead on ensuring data quality through investigation and analysis, and driving the improvement and use of the spatial metadata library.
External Exchange: Managing critical spatial data exchanges with key external customers, including retail water companies, councils, and consultants.
Expert Advice: Providing subject matter expertise and technical direction on industry best practice for data management and the implementation of new tools.
What You'll Bring
Extensive hands-on experience with spatial datasets, Esri GIS, and an advanced user-level of FME and other data manipulation tools.
Demonstrated proficiency in asset data analysis using SQL and spatial SQL.
Strong knowledge of information systems, data operations, and the ability to interpret computer terminology and data standards.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
A Tertiary qualification in Geospatial, Information Systems, or a related field.
