Duties of the Role
SEQ PTS Operations Centre, located in Spring Hill, supports a unique and vulnerable patient cohort that is growing. The purpose of the role is to receive non urgent transport requests, engage with health facilities (hospitals and doctors surgeries) to arrange transport for patients to attend hospital appointments, provide essential prearrival advice, dispatch QAS resources and coordinate patient transport movements for the Queensland community. There will also be a requirement to handle as emergency calls from time to time.
Working primarily Monday to Friday between 0600 and 2200, with the occasional Saturday, you will be trained across two key functions:
Call-taking
· Engage with health facilities (hospitals and doctors’ surgeries) to arrange transport for patients to attend hospital appointments.
· Provide advice and support before the ambulance arrives.
· Follow structured and scripted protocols to assist the caller in their emergency.
· Gather and record critical details.
Dispatching
· Coordinate patient transport services across Queensland.
· Operate a multi-screen computer system.
· Communicate via radio to the paramedics.
· Manage multiple incidents at one time.
· Use real-time dispatch systems.
Please Note: There will be requirement to undertake a training period of 1 month at the Brisbane Operations Centre based at Kedron. This will involve working on a 12-hour shift-roster providing 24/7 coverage (including nights, public holidays and weekends). This placement will be focused on consolidating your proficiency with Triple Zero (000) call taking.
You’ll rotate between these functions (but typically will only perform one per shift), with full training provided for both.
