This is a permanent leadership role within the Strategy and Architecture Unit of the Data and Technology Division at the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR), based in Brisbane. The role reports to the Director Technology Strategy and Architecture and manages a team of 3–8 direct reports

The role involves defining and managing architecture to maximize return on investment, leading and developing a high-performing architecture team, promoting best practices in technology and governance, and driving innovation to ensure the NHVR remains a leader in regulatory technology.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Provide visionary leadership and mentorship to architects.
  • Develop and execute architecture strategies and roadmaps.
  • Oversee enterprise-level architecture design and maintenance.
  • Champion innovation and emerging technologies.
  • Establish governance frameworks for risk and compliance.
  • Communicate architectural decisions to stakeholders.
  • Represent NHVR in industry forums and partnerships.
  • Ensure alignment with internal policies and external regulations.

To be successful in this role you will possess

  • Advanced degree in IT, Computer Science, Business, or related fields.
  • 10+ years in enterprise-scale technology delivery.
  • Proven leadership in architecture and innovation.
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships.
  • Track record of leading transformational initiatives.
