Position Purpose:

The AR Trainer is responsible for training and supporting new ARs as they transition into their roles within the SIG network. This role involves providing structured training, practical guidance, and support to ARs in areas such as client engagement, risk assessment, compliance adherence, and policy broking. The AR Trainer ensures that ARs have the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to succeed and maintain high standards of professionalism.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Onboarding and Induction:

Assist in the onboarding and induction of new ARs, ensuring they understand SIG policies, compliance requirements, and broking procedures.

Provide comprehensive training on client management, compliance processes, and industry best practices.

2. Shadowing and Practical Training:

Shadow new ARs during client interactions and daily activities, offering real-time feedback and guidance.

Demonstrate effective broking strategies, risk assessment methods, and policy recommendations.

Assist ARs with the placement of insurance, guiding them through the process of assessing client needs, negotiating with underwriters, and securing suitable policies.

Provide hands-on training on the use of SIG’s industry-leading tools, including Ebix-WinBeat, OfficeTec, SIG Learn, and Risk Coach/BI Calculator, ensuring ARs are proficient in these systems and can utilize them effectively in their daily activities.

3. Policy Management and Binding Referrals:

Oversee SIG’s policies, ensuring that they are up-to-date and aligned with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Bind and manage any SIG referrals, ensuring a smooth process and maintaining the highest level of client service.

4. Development and Monitoring:

Deliver training sessions covering a range of broking techniques, sales strategies, compliance obligations, and SIG’s tools and resources.

Monitor AR performance, provide ongoing feedback and creating individualised development plans to support professional growth.

5. Compliance and Standards:

Ensure ARs are fully compliant with industry standards, regulations, and SIG’s policies.

Assist ARs in maintaining accurate client records and compliance documentation.

6. Relationship Management:

Foster strong relationships with ARs, acting as a mentor and trusted advisor.

Support ARs in building professional relationships with clients, underwriters, and other key stakeholders within the SIG network.

7. Reporting and Documentation:

Maintain detailed records of AR progress, challenges, and achievements.

Provide regular reports and feedback to SIG management, offering recommendations for further training and support.

Key Selection Criteria:

1. Qualifications and Experience:

Proven experience in insurance broking, with a strong understanding of risk assessment, policy broking, and negotiation strategies.

Relevant qualifications such as ANZIIF (Senior Associate) or equivalent preferred.

Experience in mentoring, training, or coaching professionals within a broking environment.

2. Skills and Attributes:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders.

Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements relevant to Australian insurance broking.

Problem-solving skills and the ability to provide practical, tailored solutions for ARs.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Full Proficiency in Industry-Leading Tools: Experience with and access to Ebix-WinBeat, OfficeTec, SIG Learn, and Risk Coach/BI Calculator, with the capability to train others in their use.

3. Technical Competencies:

Familiarity with broking tools, CRM systems, and compliance software used in the insurance industry.

Proficient in developing and delivering training materials and presentations.
